Chocolate Spice Crumb Cake

Chocolate spice Crumb Cake is the perfect holiday dessert. It has three layers of delicious and intricate flavor. The first layer is a vanilla cake batter that is topped with a chocolate cake batter mixed mixed with holiday flavors like cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. The final layer is a crunchy, sweet crumble right on top.

The spices in the chocolate batter adds depth and flavor, bringing out all the beautiful holiday feels! And the crumble on top gives the cake texture-so it feels decadent but not overwhelming.

Combine Wet Ingredients

The cake itself is very simple to put together. Start by making the batter. Mix together eggs, sugar, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients: flour, salt, and baking powder. Whisk well to incorporate everything together. Then combine the fry and wet ingredients and whisk until smooth.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients to Make Batter

Separate the batter into two and in one bowl add cocoa powder and spices; cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. This will make the chocolate cake layer. mix well and set aside.

Add Cocoa Powder and Spices to Half the Batter

Prepare an 8×8 baking dish by spraying with baking spray. Pour vanilla cake batter into the cake pan. Then drizzle over the chocolate cake batter all over the top. Set aside and make the crumble.

Pour Vanilla Cake Batter into Pan, Then In Drizzle Chocolate Cake Batter

Melt butter in a shallow dish and add flour and sugar. Press the flour and sugar into the melted butter using hands until it becomes crumbly. Now crumble it over the cake evenly.

Make Crumble and Spread Over Batter

Carefully place the cake pan into a preheated oven at 340°. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow the cake to sit and cool in its pan for 10 minutes. Then flip over and transfer to a cooling rack until completely cooled. Slice cake and enjoy!
